On Wednesday (1st October 2014) the Rector of South East European University, Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika, signed a cooperation agreement with USAID and LCIF (Lions Club International Federation), through Lions Club Macedonia as the winner of the grant for a research project in the field of the application of Information Technologies.
The project is titled Children with Visual Disabilities and is intended to promote the inclusion of children with blindness or partial vision in the educational system, by developing software for the translation of textbooks for primary education from multiple languages. In support of this, teaching will be developed in the Braille language by equipping five schools with supportive technology, by training the teachers in these schools, as well by striving to prevent eye diseases through the early screening of children.
SEEU's partners in this project will be the Ministry of Education and Science and the Association of the Blind in Macedonia. The Grant is worth five hundred thousand dollars and will be implemented for 30 months.
