The competition was declared open by the SEEU Pro-Rector for Research, Prof. Dr. Blerim Reka, who pointed out that despite the unfavourable weather conditions for the race, the organizers had prepared the ski slopes well and a successful competition was expected.
On behalf of the participating universities, the participants were also greeted by Marina Tasho, from the University of Korca, who was the only participant in all previous occurrences of the ski competition. "I want to thank SEEU for this traditional competition. We are honoured to take part this time and we wish every contestant a very successful race.”
In this year’s competition, seven universities participated, with a total of 25 skiers. The competitors represented University "Hasan Prishtina"-Prishtina University, "St. Kliment Ohridski"-Bitola, SEE University, the State University of Tetovo, University "Fan S. Noli”-Korça, University "Goce Dellçev"-Shtip and the University for Tourism and Management in Skopje.
In the women’s category, the winner wasStefanija Talevska, from University "St. Kliment Ohridski"-Bitola, followed by Marina Tasho, University "Fan S. Noli”-Korça, and third place went to Vjollca Memishi, of the State University of Tetovo.
In the men’s categorythe winner wasDardan Dehari of the State University of Tetovo, followed by Dardar Pupovci from the University of Prishtina, and the third place went to Martin Martinovski, from the University for Tourism and Management in Skopje.
Satisfied with the flow of the race both in terms of competitor numbers and athletic quality, the head of this competition, Menan Memedi, said: “I would like tothank the media representatives who have always been present for this event; the Tourist Centre for the reception of all of the participants at this high level; and I would like also to thank other services that contributed to enable these competitions to be completed successfully. This was the seventh challenge organized by SEEU, and we were lucky that the weather was very good, even though the snow was not in the proper amount. We managed, however, to prepare the slopes according to appropriate standards.”
The general winners of this year’s competition were the students of the State University of Tetovo; second place went to University “Hasan Prishtina” from Prishtina; and in the third place were the students from South East European University.
These competitions brought together international competitors in the discipline of Giant Slalom, and were contested on the beautiful ski slopes of Kodra e Diellit (Popova Shapka) – Tetovo.
The organizer of the competition, SEEU, presented medallions to the best individual skiers, while the wining team took the trophy cup.
