Following a highly competitive regional phase conducted across 7 regional centers (Skopje, Tetovo, Kumanovo, Shtip, Prilep, Struga, and Gostivar) the top-performing students advanced to the national level, marking the culmination of months of preparation, learning, and competition.
The event gathered students, teachers, institutional partners, and private sector supporters, highlighting the growing importance of economic literacy and critical thinking skills among youth in North Macedonia.
At the regional level, the top three students in each of the seven regions were awarded:
1st place: Laptop
2nd place: Tablet
3rd place: Smartwatch
At the national level, the competition continued with even higher stakes. The Top 10 students nationwide were awarded €200 vouchers, supported by Neptun, recognizing their outstanding performance.
The Top 5 students will further benefit from participation in a Preparatory Bootcamp, and the opportunity to represent North Macedonia at the International Economics Olympiad in Greece, placing them on a global stage alongside peers from around the world. In partnership with the South East European University, the competition also offers substantial academic opportunities to the top three with the 1st place receiving 100% scholarship at the Faculty of Business and Economics, 2nd place 70% scholarship and 3rd place 50% scholarship. These scholarships aim to support and encourage the continued academic development of the country’s brightest young economists.
Recognizing the essential role of educators, the Olympiad also awarded the Best Teacher Awards in each of the 7 regions, each receiving a $200 prize, as well as The Best Teacher at the national level, awarded a trip for two to Istanbul. These awards acknowledge the dedication and impact of teachers in preparing and mentoring students throughout the Olympiad process.
The Economics Olympiad in North Macedonia is organized by the Liberal Alternative Institute (LAI) and supported by the Economic Fundamentals Initiative (EFI), in partnership with the South East European University and a wide network of partners and sponsors.
