A Lecture on Joining the European Union by the Slovenian Ambassador in R. Macedonia

           “How to Join the European Union: Negotiation Process, Slovenian Experience” was the topic of the lecture, delivered by the Slovenian Ambassador to Macedonia H.E. Mr. Alain Brian Bergant, on Monday 15 March, at the South East European University.

           This lecture was moderated by SEEU’s Pro-Rector for Finance and Physical Development Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, who said that is very important that our students learn about the Slovenian experience on European integration.

             Ambassador Bergant, spoke about Macedonia’s perspectives and other Balkan countries in European Union. He mentioned that the solution of the name issue between Skopje and Athens should be dealt with during the Spanish Presidency of the EU.  While for the visa liberalization issue,

            Ambassador Bergant spoke about the level of preparation in this direction of other Balkan countries like Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania but he added that we should not forget Kosovo.            

            The Minister of Environment and Physical Planning of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Nexhati Jakupi also presented the Government’s activities in this aspect, with special accent on the activities of the Ministry about the fulfillment of the foreseen obligations for EU integration.
