“We are here in front of you to explain the asymmetric information and disinformation and to be fully transparent to the public and students. We have obligation to support students in their freedom of critical thinking, but always respecting the dignity of professor, as a general nomination and seeking relevant evidence for particular cases, as well as in this case of SEEU according to this isolated and incidental survey”, said Rector Bexheti.
Already we have received the results from survey report and we have reviewed the same ones. It is about one full-time academic staff and 3 cases of part-time academic staff engaged.
“In accordance with working rules and procedures in force at South East European University will initiate investigations for the presented cases, but concrete measures will be taken only if there are verified and serious evidence. We motivate students for different study activities, but they need to be careful with the research methodology that they use” said Rector Bexheti.
President of the University Board, Prof. Dr. Dennis Farrington, said cases of sexual harassment are not only localized in North Macedonia, but these cases are also reported in the UK, US, EU countries, or anywhere in the world.
“We assure you that we as a university will not tolerate any such case and that we have very efficient procedures that help us to clarify everything” said Prof. Dr. Dennis Farrington.
The Pro-rector for Research and International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Besa Arifi, explained that SEEU and the Feminist Club are aware of the shortcomings of the survey, but seriously are taken the concerns raised by the results obtained from the survey. Prof. Besa Arifi said that the University is obliged to give room to students, even for such cases of serious concern.
