Lamberto Zannier: Continuing Support for South East European University

The OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities, Lamberto Zannier, today visited South East European University (SEEU) in Tetovo. He met with the Rector, Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika and other members of the South East European University management team.

Rector Dika informed High Commissioner Zannier about current developments at the University and the general state of higher education in Macedonia.

“Our University continues to be committed to promoting its mission for the advancement of education in the Albanian language, as well as creating conditions and encouraging students to study in English. The multiethnic and multicultural approach remains high on the University's development strategy. Enrolment trends show a significant increase in the number of students who wish to study in English. This component and quality assurance in teaching have made our University distinguish itself as a special model of higher education not only in Macedonia but also in the region”, said Rector Dika. He welcomed the OSCE's commitment in all steps of the university's sustainable development strategy.

High Commissioner Zannier said that during his visit to Macedonia, the key point of his interest in all the meetings that he has had was education and problems faced in this very important area of a state.

“We are ready to support SEEU in its efforts towards regional expansion and towards development”, said Zannier.

Rector Dika, with other members of the SEEU management, the High Commissioner, and his team, made a tour of the University campus, where they were introduced to the latest developments in the Technological Park, Max van der Stoel Institute and the University Library
