'The President of the University Board, Prof Dr Dennis Farrington, as an expert of the Council of Europe, participated in the visit of the Venice Commission (the European Commission for Democracy through Law) to Hungary 29 June-1 July. The delegation assessed the impact of recent amendments to the Hungarian Law on Higher Education on foreign-based institutions operating in Hungary, including the Central European University (CEU), about which there has been some international controversy. It is expected that the Commission will issue its preliminary report in August. According to Prof Farrington, the lessons from this report will also be relevant as we assist the Government of the Republic of Macedonia in reforming the country's higher education law.'
