About 60 scholars of Albanian studies from Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and Greece participated in this Scientific Meeting. The event began with a welcoming speech by the Rector of SEEU, Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika, who emphasized the importance of Albanology as a science and its role in Albanian societies. Then the Dean of the LCC Faculty, Prof. Dr. Gezim Xhaferi, gave a welcome on behalf of the Faculty; the Head of the Department of Albanian Language and Literature, Prof. Dr. Zeqir Kadriu, gave a thematic welcome; and also addressing the audience were Prof. Dr. Begzad Baliu from the University of Prishtina as well as Prof. Dr. Zeqirja Neziri from St. Cyril and Methodius University.
The keynote speaker of the plenary session, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ibrahimi, delivered a lecture on the topic 'Challenges of Albanology and its Reintegration in the Future.' Later discussions were continued in three separate sessions: Language, Literature and Didactics.
The organization of the conference was at a high level thanks to the co-ordination of Dr. Meral Shehabi and other members of the organizing Council. The meeting will be recurring, and it is expected to attract greater participation in the second meeting, to be held in April 2018.
