The ranking is done on the basis of a set of indicators for quality, academic performance and competitiveness. These indicators pertain to the essential aspects of the work of higher education institutions such as: the teaching process; number of enrolled students; investment in equipment; scientific research activity of academic staff; social dimension; number of professors and associates who are involved in exchange programmes in international universities; number of students within the student exchange programmes in foreign countries, etc.
"If the aim of ranking higher education institutions in Macedonia is to contribute to the transparency, efficiency, quality and the stimulation of competitiveness among higher education institutions, then it must be acknowledged that these objectives are only partially met. This is due primarily to the lack of transparency in the fulfilment of these requirements by certain higher education institutions" said Doc. Dr. Demush Bajrami, Executive Adviser for PR and Communication. According to him, by comparing the data provided this year with the previous ranking data, one sees unexplained and significant differences from the previous version, attained over an implausibly short period of time.
“For the purpose of comparison, which is the basis of our formal request for correction addressed to the Ministry of Education and Science, we want to draw the public attention for the University ranked as 3rd in the same category. Just for your information, the university, which in 2012 has 0 results in certain component and in 2014 ranking, also has 0 result, while in this year's ranking has attained 54 points in the same component, which means significantdevelopment over 5400% in comparison with other universities in Macedonia (such data unfortunately there are in other categories and other universities)”, says Bajrami.
"Despite this, we as South East European University, continue to be ranked in the top five; we are the fourth ranked university in general among all universities in the country, and the first ranked among private universities, in Macedonia. The success of SEEU in these rankings and various other international evaluations should be an additional motive for new students to enrol in SEEU. They are verifications that everything is achieved with knowledge and professionalism in our work," Dr. Bajrami concluded.
