SEEU Signs a Cooperation Agreement with the Ministry of Education of Macedonia and the Ministry of Education of Kosovo

On Thursday (4 May 2017) at the Skopje campus of South East European University Campus, the SEEU Rector Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika; the Minister of Education and Science of Macedonia (MES), Mr. Pishtar Lutfiu, MA; and the Minister of Education, Science and Technology of Kosovo (MEST), Prof. Dr. Arsim Bajrami; signed a cooperation agreement. The agreement aims to deepen cooperation in the field of higher education, in particular in the postgraduate joint study programme between SEEU and the University of Ljubljana in the field of European Studies.

The agreement also provides for the allocation of scholarships by the two Ministries for students who will be enrolled in this study programme, and after successful completion of their studies--they will be provided with a joint degree from both universities, SEEU and the University of Ljubljana.

Rector Dika expressed his satisfaction with the signing of this agreement, which will advance and deepen the already very good cooperation between this university and relevant ministries of Macedonia and Kosovo.

“The purpose of this programme is that we as a university, together with our partner, the University of Ljubljana, will offer prepared staff to the administrations of the countries of the region through this professional master programme. We hope to to build integration capacities that are dominated by a political consensus that exists in the region for EU integration. We as a University on this occasion give our contribution through this programme” noted Rector Dika.

The Minister of Education and Science of Macedonia, Mr. Pishtar Lutfiu, MA, emphasized the importance of this cooperation, highlighting the prestige and quality of teaching offered by this university.

“This cooperation will give its results, bearing in mind that SEEU is a leading university in the region, especially when it comes to European studies, where both Macedonia and the region claim to be part of the European Union and at the same time educational institutions are those that promote European values and enable students to realize their efforts through such programme”, said Mr. Lutfiu.

Prof. Dr. Arsim Bajrami also highly appreciated this cooperation, which with this agreement has deepened and resulted in concrete projects.

“It is a very important programme for the region, especially for the Republic of Kosovo, and the Republic of Macedonia. This programme will enable training and the increase of capacities of staff working in both countries in the integration process. We will support this programme and we will cooperate with the university by sending our students who are in the public administration, and who wish to work on the European integration process”, Prof. Bajrami remarked.

It is worth pointing out that the interest for studying in this programme is very high among students who aim a career in European Studies.
