SEEU plans three conferences, with different themes, which are expected to bring prominent scientists to the University from the country and the region.

“Creative and Critical Approaches to Literature” was the theme of the first conference, which was held on 25-26 April 2014. It was attended by scholars of creative literature, who discussed the situation of literature in the Western Balkans, with particular emphasis on Albanian creative literature.

Aspects of artistic practice were discussed, as were critical thinking and approaches to creative literature, especially in relation to contemporary writing.

The International Scientific Conference: “Contemporary Challenges of Multiculturalism and Language Policies”, on 16-17 May, 2014 at the SEEU Campus in Tetovo. Organized by SEEU’s “Max van der Stoel” Scientific Research Institute, it is expected to bring researchers and analysts to South East European University.

On the 20th June, 2014, South East European University will host the second Quality Conference on the topic of “Quality of Assessment, Qualification and Evaluation in Higher Education”,which will bring together academics, educational leaders and policy makers to explore aspects of assessment in Higher Education. The first Quality conference, in June 2012, on the theme of the Quality of Learning and Teaching, attracted about 180 staff and students from Higher Education institutions in the Republic of Macedonia. Proceedings were published.

The conference is intended to provide a forum for presenting and sharing research and good practice. It will be an opportunity for reflection, discussion, and for exchanging ideas. International rankings, competence frameworks, student survey results, and evaluation (and quality assurance) agencies all verify the importance of assessment and evaluation in Higher Education institutions.
