Dear friends, current and future
students!
Let me take this opportunity to briefly acquaint you with the world of South East European University (SEEU) and the challenges that we as a higher education institution have taken on in the pursuit of academic excellence.
SEEU is a contemporary, young, educational institution, established in 2001, based on the goodwill of ‘friends of higher education’. The academic year 2005/06 and the upcoming academic years mark a very important and challenging time for the further development of our University. These upcoming academic years see the further implementation of the Bologna Process (three cycle studies, 3+2+3) and our parting with four-year undergraduate studies. With the commencement of 2nd cycle programmes in 2005, SEEU adopted a system of two main cycles (3+2), featuring not only quality first cycle programmes (undergraduate level), but also applicable second and third cycle studies (postgraduate studies). This transformation followed intensive development and restructuring of our study programmes, based upon the recognition of the immense reforms in the labour market and the desire to keep up with national and international trends.
As Rector of this higher educational institution and in the spirit of the SEEU mission, I am committed to ensuring a culture of fairness and integrity, openness and transparency in all University activities and procedures in addition to continually pursuing academic excellence. Attaining academic excellence is, however, not an easy task and places high demands on all involved in the teaching and learning experience: Academic staff, administrative staff and students. We at SEEU like to view the student–university relationship as a partnership, where we endeavour to offer applicable study programmes that meet the needs and requirements of present and future students, while providing the community with a competent and highly skilled workforce that will lead our community through the challenges of today and tomorrow. This is also why we continually seek to apply a student oriented approach to all activities and services offered, in addition to making a great effort in continually developing our academic staff, which includes distinguished national and international professors with experience in teaching based on modern methodologies, such as interactive teaching, distance learning and so on. These aims are also reflected on our campus, which merits pride. It occupies state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities and wide areas of open space that effectively integrate academic activities with social activities.
I hope that we can stimulate your interest for SEEU and hope that I, as a representative of our excellent staff, will be able to welcome you as a student or a guest at our University soon.
Alajdin Abazi, Ac. PhD.
Rector of SEE University
