The University Board has been constituted to maintain an international presence in the form of two members of the Advisory Board, but with a majority of members drawn from within the University staff and from outside the University reflecting diversity in the community.

The University Board has overall responsibility for the governance of the University including oversight of its financial position and for holding accountable the management in the execution of the policies of the Board and other bodies. Between the biannual meetings of the Board, a smaller Executive Committee receives regular reports from the management and carries out some functions on behalf of the Board.
