Ac. Dr. Alajdin Abazi
Dr. Abazi is a citizen of the Republic of Macedonia, a native of Tetovo. He graduated with an electrical engineering degree from the University of Zagreb, Croatia (1965), and earned his master’s degree from the same university in 1973. In 1977, he was awarded a doctoral degree from the University of Zagreb based on his doctoral dissertation on the subject “Storage and Neutralization of Electrical Charges in Insulated Films”.
From 1966 to 1969 he worked as a professional engineer in the region. In 1969 he joined the faculty of the University of Prishtina, where he served as the Dean of the Technical Faculty (1979-1981) and in 1985 was named professor in the Department of Electro-Technical Theory.
From 1982 to 1990, parallel with his academic work, he was elected President of the Board of the Institute “Inkos” for Research and Development and Vice president of the Board in Electro-Economy of Kosova. He was member of the Board for YU-USA Scientific and Research Cooperation.
His scholarly interests, accomplishments and ability to speak many foreign languages has given him ample opportunity to lecture and undertake research abroad, including extended periods at the University of North Wales in the UK, IASI in Romania, Tirana in Albania, and in the Academy of Sciences and Arts in China. He was a Fulbright Scholar at West Virginia University, in the United States. Dr. Abazi has published more then fifty scholarly articles and has participated in a large number of scientific projects.
In 2001, Dr. Abazi was named Director of SEE University by the Tetovo Foundation. Once the construction of the University was completed and the University opened, he was named Rector of SEE University.
In 2006, Dr. Abazi was elected as a full member of the Macedonian Academy of Arts and Sciences, earning the honorific “Academician”.
