Loans

The ‘Max van der Stoel’ Library collection distinguishes between three types of books/items, based upon their loan period:

Regular Loan
The vast majority of the items in the library are available for students as two week loans. This rule does however not apply for staff members. The are entitled to borrow items up to four weeks. These lending periods may be extended, though only with the permission of the librarian.

Short Loan
A small part of the library collection is available only as short loans. This means that these items can only beloaned for two days. This loan period may be extended, though only with the permission of the librarian. This part of the collection is organized in specific shelves and marked with yellow stickers.

Not for Loan
The rest of the collection is not for loan, meaning that usage is allowed only in the library. These items are also organized in specific shelves and marked with red stickers.

Overdue Items
Failure to return items before or on the due date will entail punishment for library users. If borrowed items are not returned by the due date, the library holds the right to take away user's borrowing privileges for one month. If the same negligence is repeated then follows a payment punishment of one euro per day.

Lost Items
Borrowers must reimburse the library for lost items.
