WHO
HAS THE RIGHT TO USE THE LIBRARY?
The university library “Max van der Stoel” serves
only SEEU students and employees. Books can be borrowed from Monday
to Friday from 08.00 – 16.00 and Saturday from 10.00-14.00.
Reading rooms can be used from Monday to Friday from 08.00 –
23.00 and Saturday from 10.00-14.00.
HOW CAN I FIND THE RIGHT
MATERIAL?
The easiest way to search for material is to use the online catalogue
EX Libris on http://library.seeu.edu.mk or ask for assistance
from the library staff. Library users can otherwise find needed
material through the guidance tables placed on the book shelves.
HOW CAN I FIND A BOOK ON THE SHELF?
The classification of books on the shelves is made according to
the DEWEY classification principles. Each material (book) has
its ‘Call Number’ which makes it easier to find on
the shelf. The DEWEY classification principles classify books
according to their field, i.e. the call number for social sciences,
like economy, sociology etc, is 300-399; art 700-799; geography-history
900-999, etc.
Furthermore, materials are also divided according to language.
Material in a certain language can be found on separate shelves.
All shelves have guiding tables for better orientation.
HOW
DO I SEARCH IN THE LIBRARY CATALOGUE?
Through the Ex Libris system, users can easily search for what
they need using single data only (name of author, title, publishing
year, subject etc). Write the full title or only a part of the
title, without using prepositions, participles, conjunctions (eng:
the, a, an, and, etc; alb.: i, në, me, dhe, etj) and punctuation
(”, ?, !), and you will have precise information on the
titles the library possesses as well as the number of copies,
barcode of the book, call number of the book, etc.
UNDER WHAT SYSTEM ARE THE BOOKS CLASIFIED?
Books are classified under DEWEY classification. Each material
(book) has a call number that makes it easier to find. DEWEY makes
possible the classification of books according to the genre/field,
meaning that every genre/field has a specific Call Number (see
table below).

HOW
AND WHEN CAN I USE THE BOOKS THAT CAN NOT BE BORROWED?

are marked with a red tag. They can be used only inside the library
from Monday to Friday from 08.00 – 16.00 h and Saturday
from 10.00-14.00. Requests for in-library usage of books must
be made to the librarian (front desk), who notes the material
requested (ID card is needed for this purpose).
HOW MANY BOOKS CAN I BORROW
AT THE SAME TIME?
Students have the right to borrow up to 3(three) books at one
time (different titles). Books with a regular borrowing status
can be borrowed up to 14(fourteen) days, while books with short
borrowing status can be borrowed for 2(two) days only.
SEEU staff members have the right to borrow up to 5 (five) books (different titles) at the same time. Books with a regular borrowing status can be borrowed up to 30(thirty) days, while books with short borrowing status can be borrowed up to 7(seven) days.
WHAT HAPPENS WITH OVERDUE
MATERIALS?
If borrowed material is overdue (the return deadline is placed
at the end of the book for every time it is borrowed), the user
will be denied the right to borrow other materials for a month.
If repeated the user will be fined with 1(one) Euro per day.
HOW DO I COMPENSATE LOST
MATERIALS?
Lost or damaged materials must be compensated with a new book
or in monetary value, by paying 1.5 times the value of the book.
CAN I RESERVE A BOOK (MATERIAL)?
Yes, reservation of books is possible. For reservation of books,
contact the front desk at the library.
FOR WHAT PURPOSES CAN I USE THE COMPUTER?
