The purpose of this meeting wasto listen to ideas and challenges that students are facing and to get the support needed in order to continue with such success. Students were delighted by the interest of the President but at the same time they revealed the problems that they face in their everyday life.

“The concrete problem is where we will be after graduating from the Faculty, because one year later we will complete our studies, and, as you can see that the majority of students go out of the country; I think our country will be emptied, as an old proverb says, better to be the first in thevillage than last in the city” – said Arjeta Rexhepi, SEEU student.

“The first point is our employment, this is a problem that has occurred with previous generations as well, but we will raise this problem oncemore” – said Venhar Ramadani.

“We have the honour to talk with the President of our country, however, I believe that the President is honoured as well because he is talking with the future of this country, if I could ask you something, it would be your affirmation at the highest level for the elimination of nepotism in all structures of the State”, – said the SEEU student, Liridona Veliu.

President, Ivanov plans to have such meetings with other universities in the country, where the importance of education as a priority for Macedonia will be emphasized.

This book treats the issue of small business and entrepreneurship as key pillars in any national economy and offers readers a clearer picture about small business, strengths and weaknesses, and respectively, benefits, challenges and problems arising from owning and managing a small business, ways of organizing a business, innovative efforts to deal with competition, identifying and seeking solutions in order to avoid dangerous situations in the business operation, entrepreneurs continuous struggle to find adequate sources and ways for launching good products and services in market and consumer information for benefits from them. The book is intended for students, academic staff and managers. The editors of this book, Prof.Dr. Nasir Selimi and Prof. Dr. Izet Zeqiri evaluated this book as a model of a contemporary book from the field of business and entrepreneurship.

The co-author of the book, Asst. Prof. Dr. Veland Ramadani said: "In this very dynamic time, followed by big turbulence it is quite difficult to be an entrepreneur, to initiate and manage business activities, to challenge the future. However, the entrepreneurial spirit is one that transforms obstacles into opportunities, if any opportunity gets away without being used, it requires another. Not surprisingly, a world famous entrepreneur, Richard Branson may have said it best: "Business opportunities are like buses, there's always another one coming'. Then, we know that this road is full of risks and potential opportunities to fail. Winston Churchill advises us that success can be achieved even if we go from failure to failure, but with the condition not to lose enthusiasm, or, in trying to be successful, the desire for success should be greater than the fear of failure.

Prof. Dr. Bobek Shuklev, co-author, in his speech said that this book comes as a product of15 years cooperation with Asst. Prof. Dr. Veland Ramadani and the combination of the four author’s epithets - experience, professionalism, energy and commitment have made this book substantive and qualitative.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Veland Ramadani is a lecturer at the Faculty of Business and Economics at SEEU and Prof. Dr. Bobek Shuklev is a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics at Kiril and Methodius University in Skopje and member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Italy. This is the 32nd book of Prof. Dr. Bobek Shuklev and the 8th book of Asst. Prof. Dr. Veland Ramadani.

Book promotion at SEEU: “Butterfly Book” by Veton Surroi

“Butterfly Book”, by the author Veton Surroi was promoted on Wednesday (29.02.2012), at the South East European University in Tetovo.

In the opening of the promotion meeting, the expert of circumstances at the time and former MP, Demush Bajrami said that 2001 brought into light the Albanian leadership, which gave evidence of unity in the most difficult moments of the conflict. "Here, I mean the three political and military leaders of that time, Arben Xhaferi, Ali Ahmeti and Ymer Ymer," said Bjarami.

“South East European University is a projection of the 19th century for the 21st century. This is the vision of peace and institutional life. This was demonstrated by SEEU’s ranking in second place, among the best universities in Macedonia," said Mr. Surroi. I have written and promoted this book here, because I have to pay some debts to the Albanians from Macedonia. The first debt is the contribution of Albanians from Macedonia, who during the Kosovo war opened the doors for all Kosovo Albanians. The second debt is my contribution to the truth and the third debt is to contribute to peace. The platforms of Albanians from Macedonia have always been to be constitutional in all aspects. To what level this has been achieved remains to be analyzed. With this book, I have not tried to give the absolute truth, because it does not exist. I wanted to say things in which I was the protagonist and the things that I know or have had information about.

The analyst Rizvan Sulejmani, said that book is written in a very easy language and acceptable for everyone. What characterizes the book is its symbolism, such as the title of the book itself.

The analyst Sefer Tahiri said that the book has a wide range publicity analysis and seeks to open more debates about current issues.

The book “Butterfly Book” of the author Veton Surroi makes an in-depth analysis of the relevant factors that lead to the conflict of 2001 in Macedonia.

	SEEU, Tetovo, 9.12.2011

At SEEU premises in Tetovo, Association of units of self government of the Republic of Macedonia (ZELS) and SEE University organized a five day training session on the topic” Using local resources for micro regional development- sustainable agribusiness and tourism in the southern Balkans. The training sessions were scheduled for 7, 9, 12, 13, and 14 December, 2011.

The main purpose of the training was to raise the capacity of representatives from units of self government on the field of agriculture, forestry and tourism in order to secure a micro regional development.

The target groups are municipality employees within sectors of urbanism, municipality affairs, and those responsible for the environment. The trainings are part of the project Work packages that need to be performed by ZELS in cooperation with the three partner universities in Macedonia.

The participants come from the Polog and Northeast regions, as well as the municipalities of Dolneni, Struga, Debar, Zajas, Oslomej and Plasnica.

It is planned in the beginning, civil servants preferably agricultural or business graduates or professionals, representing all Macedonian municipalities to be trained during one week, by SEEUto become trainers. Therefore, representatives, agricultural forestry and environmental officers are gathered for a 5 day training in order to become trainers and eventually to disseminate the activities further in other settlements. After becoming trainers they will organize on their behalf training sessions in othersettlements of the Republic of Macedonia.

Therefore, the training is 5 day long and will cover different topics and will be finalised by a comprehensive exam leading to certificates for successful participants. Only successful participants may become trainers. Then in the most optimistic case the trained participants will go as trainers to villages for educating the farmers, the landowners and the public. 1 trainer will go to 5 village centres, then, each village centre’s public administration authority is supposed to gather participants from the rest of the 3 member villages each, in order to cover the prescribed settlements of Macedonia.

		Abstract

Increased level of complexity in almost every discipline and operation today raises the demand for knowledge in order to successfully run an organization whether to generate profit or to attain a non-profit mission. Traditional way of transferring knowledge to information systems rich in data structures and complex algorithms continue to hinder the ability to swiftly turnover concepts into operations. Diagrammatic modelling commonly applied in engineering in order to represent concepts or reality remains to be an excellent way of converging knowledge from domain experts.
The nuclear verification domain represents ever more a matter which has great importance to the World safety and security. Demand for knowledge about nuclear processes and verification activities used to offset potential misuse of nuclear technology will intensify with the growth of the subject technology. This Doctoral thesis contributes with a model-based approach for representing complex process such as nuclear inspections. The work presented contributes to other domains characterized with knowledge intensive and complex processes.
Based on characteristics of a complex process a conceptual framework was established as the theoretical basis for creating a number of modelling languages to represent the domain. The integrated Safeguards Modelling Method (iSMM) is formalized through an integrated meta-model. The diagrammatic modelling languages represent the verification domain and relevant nuclear verification aspects. Such a meta-model conceptualizes the relation between practices of process management, knowledge management and domain specific verification principles. This fusion is considered as necessary in order to create quality processes.
The study also extends the formalization achieved through a meta-model by
contributing with a formalization language based on Pattern Theory. Through
the use of graphical and mathematical constructs of the theory, process structures are formalized enhancing the ability to analyse, compare and transform models. In the example domain all possible connections between critical nuclear processes were formalized providing also for probability-based analysis of weapons acquisition paths that will help design objective-based inspection processes.

Students were informed about the purpose of the NPM, when it was established and how it functions.

“The National Preventive Mechanism started to function from April this year and conducts its activities by observing corrective – penal facilities in the entire territory of Macedonia," said Ms. Merita Alili.

Observations are carried out in two ways: announced and unannounced visits to penitentiary institutions in the Republic of Macedonia. The interest of students was raised especially about the results from unannounced visits to corrective – penal facilities.

Also, many students asked questions about the authority of the NPM in relation to concrete cases, in terms of conversations with persons deprived of freedom, without supervision, without witnesses, personal communication or through an interpreter.

The aforementioned Sector collaborates with experts of different fields, depending on the specific case needs in order to prevent violence and implementation of the minimal UN Standard Rules in the penitentiary institutions in the Republic of Macedonia.

SEEU’s Faculty of Law students showed that they had prior knowledge about this topic, such as, the notion of torture and principles that prohibit these actions, based on the national legislation.

“Today, after ten years, the University has approximately 7000 students and over 5000 graduates in the three cycles of study, with property and equipment that are currently valued over 30 million euro, with an integrated modern campus in Tetovo and in Skopje 22.000 m2, 400 employees - academic and administrative staff, with a strong network of cooperation with universities inside and outside the country, facts that reveal 10 years full of achievements. The University through the project entitled "SEEU 2.0" intends vigorously to represent the model of modern integrated university with contemporary leadership, University Board consists of excellent people who are considered as direct contributors to the creation of the Bologna process and well known experts of higher education in Europe, as well as representatives from the community in Macedonia. This contemporary leadership structure followed by a quality management team – pro-rectors and advisors with an excellent academic background, with whom every rector would feel proud and motivated to continue relentlessly to the realization of the set objectives. This stage of university development is called phase of participative management based on performance and processes within a transparent and competitive environment on equal basses” said among others rector Dika.

According to the President of the University Board Prof. Dr Dennis Farrington “This University is of course the only private-public not-for-profit institution in the country and the region, with its own organizational and business model, operating real time risk assessment and strategic planning. We are constantly seeking to find new ways of collaborating with government and other entities to secure financial sustainability and to continue to offer high quality programmes which will benefit both the individual and the economy, and at the same time making a meaningful contribution to protection of the environment. Our record is good, and is there for all to see. We do not rest on our laurels, but seek new directions, improvements and above all enhanced quality to European standards. These are not meaningless words, but represent our commitment. My old high school motto was ‘Progrediamur’ which means ‘Let us go forward.’ Indeed let us do just that, and come back in another ten years to receive the next poem.

Provost Prof. Dr Paul Foster said: „President Mc Robbie is truly an innovator in education. His leadership in IT was based on the IU Information Technology Strategic Plan, which he initiated and which is now considered a model for institutions across the US. He also played a major role in the creation of the School of Informatics; directed the development of I-Light, the management of the Internet2 Abilene network and numerous other networks; and founded IU's Pervasive Technology Laboratories, the first phase of a $5 billion campaign to be completed in IU’s bicentenary year of 2020”.

Doctor Honoris Causa Michael A. McRobbie, stated: „ It is an honor to be back here in Tetovo at South East European University in the Republic of Macedonia, just ten short years after the university was founded in 2001. I am proud to have been here at the beginning and even prouder to return for the great honor that you bestow upon me. There may be no greater honor that a university can give than to invite one to join the ranks of its graduates, and I am deeply grateful.

SEEU exemplifies the values that have united universities for centuries and that unite people as well. We can see evidence of your growth and prosperity by looking at the development that has taken place on the Tetovo campus and the interest generated by the downtown Skopje academic center. We can see it in your new academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels and your new partnerships with European and U.S. universities.

It is important to remember that SEEU is truly an institution of the 21st century. You are the makers and shapers of your university’s traditions. You are building a culture of intellect that will provide the foundation upon which the next generation of scholars and teachers can continue to build. And you are the guardians who will ensure that the structures you create will best serve the faculty and students of SEEU long into the future.
